Important Information for Prospective Applicants

Please review this important information before submitting your application.

In order to respond to the needs for flexibility of our unique population of learners, BGSC submitted a proposal to UBC Senate to approve a move to a Pass/Fail grading system starting in September 2023 which was unanimously approved in January 2023.

The minimum percentage to pass in all courses will be 74%. All new students beginning in September 2023 will be graded on this new system. You will receive either a Pass or Fail on your transcript and not a grade or percentage for any SURG courses taken in the GCGSC or MGSC (SURG 510, SURG 512, SURG 514, SURG 516, SURG 517, SURG 518, SURG 542, SURG 560). Students who were admitted before September 2023 will remain on the current percentage system and will not be able to change to the Pass/Fail system.

If you have questions about this please email global.surgery@ubc.ca

To ensure you are eligible for the program, please review the Admission Requirements and the Application Checklist.
